I took some classes and workshops, and two of those classes changed the direction of my professional life.

I had the good fortune of taking classes with descendants of the great Pedro Linares, Ricardo Linares at Museo de San Carlos and Leonardo Linares at Casa Museo Diego Rivera in Mexico City.

After taking those classes, I gradually started shifting careers; I was putting aside the somewhat safe and respectable world of graphic design, and taking the risky and not-so respectable path of dreamer and producing more and more Cartonería (Mexican Paper Sculpture.)

This passage came to me in a very natural and subtle form, as if it was the most obvious path to take. Almost without noticing, I became a "cartonero" (Paper Mache Artist.)

I hung up the "Licenciado en Diseño de la Comunicación Gráfica" (Bachelor in Graphic Design) suit (tie included), and I put on the noblest apron of the artisan.

At that point, paper was no longer just the surface material to display my ideas. It changed from being the background of the artwork to becoming the artwork itself.
